The Importance of Regular Covid-19 Test
As of 15 Feb 2021, Malaysia has recorded a total of 266,445 Covid-19 cases with 47,135 active cases. The positive cases largely came from construction areas and factories which are highly vulnerable and infectious especially when a carrier with no symptoms turn up at work without realising that he/she is Covid-19 positive.
It was reported by the Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah that on January 18, a total of 35,720 RT-PCR tests were done worldwide, which only amounted to 59% of the total test capacity. It was also revealed that effective from January 13, Covid-19 screening will only be done for close contacts who are symptomatic with Covid-19, but those without symptoms can self-isolate at home for 10 days, without getting tested.
According to an article released by CodeBlue, Singapore, which has reported a total of 59,157 positive Covid-19 cases, has conducted 6.06 million tests cumulatively compared to Malaysia that has reported 169,379 cases and only conducted 4.05 million tests cumulatively as of January 18.
With more and more clinics offering affordable Covid-19 tests, it’s advisable that public take a covid-19 test from the private health centres to increase the test rate and reduce potential risk to spread to people around us.
